Kathy had tried every diet on the market. Some of them worked for a while, and then life got in the way and the weight crept back. So she'd start again and again.
By the time she found Health with Bec, she was exhausted by the cycle – and ready for something completely different.
She was 51, a mum of four, and she described how she felt in her own words: heavy, aching legs, hormonal, tired, and disappointed in herself.
After losing 19 kg in 9 months, none of that is her reality anymore!
Why Everything She'd Tried Before Kept Letting Her Down
There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from years of trying. Kathy had been putting in real effort for a long time, but every program she tried had one thing in common: it was too restrictive and not sustainable.
“I didn’t want just another diet,” she says. “I started researching a healthier, more long-term, sustainable lifestyle.”
That shift – from looking for a diet to looking for a way of eating she could stick to forever – is exactly what led her to my programs. And it's the shift that makes all the difference. Because sustainable weight loss for women over 50 doesn't come from eating less and feeling hungry all the time. It comes from finding an approach your body actually responds to, and that fits your life.
The ‘Why’ That Kept Her Going
Kathy also had two deeply personal reasons driving her. She's getting married in November 2026 and wanted to feel truly well walking into that day – not just lighter, but energised and confident.
And then there was the harder one. She grew up watching her mum diet constantly. Always restricting, always chasing a version of herself that felt just out of reach, always disappointed. Her mum passed away from pancreatic cancer at 65 – and Kathy, at 51, is acutely aware of how close that is.
“I was terrified I would end up the same way,” she says. “And I found that I was doing what my mum always did – and I didn’t want my daughter to see that in me too. I want to live a long and healthy life and feel good doing it.”
What the 3 Week Body Reset Actually Gave Her (Hint: It Wasn't Just the 3 kg)
Kathy completed the 3 Week Body Reset in July 2025 and lost 3 kg in those first three weeks.
But the number is almost beside the point compared to what else happened. The Reset gave her the education she needed about what she was eating – rather than just the food itself – and that changed everything.
“The difference which made this work is the education supplied within the program,” she says. “Understanding the components of food, the macros, the recipes – all helped educate me.”
So many women come into the Reset having spent years trying to eat less and push through on willpower alone. What Kathy found instead was an understanding of how food affects her body – how it interacts with her hormones, her gut, her metabolism – and why the approaches she'd tried before had left her stuck.
Once she had that understanding, everything clicked.
The 3 Week Body Reset gives you that foundational knowledge. I’m all about the “whys” – because when you understand the science behind what you’re eating and why it works, you stop stressing and start enjoying food again! Three weeks of done-for-you meals that remove the guesswork, plus the education so you feel empowered to change. Over 80,000 women have been through it – and the education is what they tell me changed everything.
16 More Kilos in Eight Months, Without Going Back to Dieting
After the Reset, Kathy joined the Tribe, my ongoing community of women who've graduated from the Reset. Following what she calls "the Bec principles," she lost another 16 kg over the next eight months.
“It surprised me that it’s honestly been the easiest lifestyle I have ever adapted,” she says.”
When I asked what kept her going, three things came up:
The food itself: She talks about big portions and meals she looked forward to, which matters more than most people admit. When your meals are filling and your blood sugar stays stable, you stop craving food all day and those constant thoughts about food become less and less.
The 80/20 approach: The knowledge of how to pick herself back up after a slip-up, which is one of the real differences between this approach and every rigid program she’d tried before. Life happens – a weekend away, a birthday, a hard week at work. You shouldn’t have to stop having fun, and this approach was built for you to keep living life. Kathy is proof of that. Eight months in, she’s still going – and she hasn’t looked back once.
The community: And then there's the Tribe community itself. "Connecting with the other Tribe members and sharing in their successes, and knowing I am not alone, has also helped in my success," she says. She's since recommended the program to four other people and all four have joined!
Why Women Over 50 Often Need a Different Approach Than They've Been Given
Kathy came into this navigating the kinds of hormonal changes in your 40s and 50s that make weight management more complicated – fluctuating oestrogen, a slower metabolism, a body that just doesn't respond the same way it did a decade ago.
Most programs aren't built with that in mind. They're built around restriction, which is the last thing a perimenopausal body needs. What works is eating in a way that supports your hormones rather than fighting against them – high protein, anti-inflammatory, gut-focused, with enough food that leaves you feeling full and satisfied, not starving.
That's the foundation of how I eat, and how the 3 Week Body Reset is built. It's also why Kathy's results didn't stop after three weeks. Every meal is built to keep you full and reduce cravings, so you're not constantly thinking about food.
The Part of Her Story That Every Woman Reading This Needs to Hear
Kathy said something I keep coming back to. She didn't want her daughter to grow up watching her do what her own mother had always done – always dieting, always disappointed, always chasing something that stayed just out of reach.
So many women carry that same story. A relationship with food shaped by diet culture, by years of being told that your body is the problem, that if you just tried harder it would work this time. It's exhausting, and it's not true.
The approach matters – and when you find the right one everything changes. Kathy’s story proves that. And the four women she’s already brought with her prove that when you find something that works, you want everyone you love to know about it.
